ABU DHABI :The United Arab Emirates has issued a strong condemnation following fresh maritime attacks targeting UAE-registered oil tankers near the strategic Strait of Hormuz, regional officials confirmed.
The incident, which involved targeted drone and missile strikes against commercial vessels operating near the entry of the Gulf corridor, caused limited structural damage to the vessels. Defense and maritime authorities confirmed that all crew members aboard the impacted ships are safe and no injuries or casualties were reported.
Emergency response units and naval patrols were deployed to secure the affected area shortly after the incidents were reported. Preliminary investigations indicate that the strikes originated from Iranian positions across the narrow waterway, prompting heightened naval alerts across neighboring Gulf nations.
“The United Arab Emirates strongly condemns these aggressive acts targeting commercial shipping lanes,” the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in an official statement. “These actions constitute a flagrant violation of international maritime law and pose a direct threat to regional stability and the safety of global energy supply chains.”
The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s vital maritime choke points, through which nearly a fifth of global petroleum consumption passes daily. Repeated disruption to commercial transit through the waterway has heightened security protocols among international shipping fleets and international maritime coalition forces operating in the Gulf region.
Gulf Cooperation Council officials and international maritime bodies have called for immediate restraint and demanded adherence to international law governing freedom of navigation. Defense officials confirmed that regional maritime security task forces have intensified surveillance operations across the waterway to ensure the uninterrupted flow of global commerce.
