Organizers model the global Twenty20 competition on franchise leagues, offering team ownership to the worldwide Malayali diaspora
KOCHI — September 1, 2026:Organizers have formally launched the World Malayali Cricket League (WMCL), a Twenty20 cricket tournament designed to unite diaspora cricketers and entrepreneurs on a single global platform, unveiling the tournament’s official logo at an event in Kochi.
The logo was revealed at Le Méridien Kochi in the presence of chief guest Miss Universe India 2025 Vamshi Uday, REMAX SAM Chief Executive Officer Faisal Contractor, WMCL Director Arun S. Chandran, Golden Wind Group Chief Executive Officer and World Boxing Council champion K.S. Vinod, and WMCL Director K.G. Biju.

Structured along the lines of prominent franchise tournaments like the Indian Premier League, the WMCL will offer franchise ownership opportunities to Malayali business owners and community members spread across different continents. Organizers stated that the league aims to blend competitive cricket with diaspora entrepreneurship, building a bridge for players and investors alike.
The tournament is being organized in collaboration with the Golden Wind Group and REMAX SAM. Alongside player engagement, the platform intends to foster long-term community networking through sports ownership.
During the launch event, organizers also introduced an international real estate expo hosted jointly by REMAX SAM and Golden Wind Group. The exhibition showcases premium properties, villas, and land development opportunities across Dubai, Georgia, Australia, Sri Lanka, and India. Organizers confirmed that the expo will additionally host several upcoming property launches and the rollout of Malabar Fashion Week.
