At least 31 people were killed and 40 others injured in a series of Israeli airstrikes targeting multiple areas across Lebanon on Tuesday, according to Lebanese health authorities.
The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health said the attacks struck several towns and areas in southern Lebanon, causing heavy casualties and damage.
In a statement, the Public Health Emergency Operations Centre confirmed that 14 people were killed and 16 others wounded in the Burj El Shemali area near the southern city of Tyre.
The ministry added that five people were killed and six injured in Kouthariyeh El Siyad, while four people lost their lives and 10 others were wounded in Haboush.
Elsewhere, six people were killed and six wounded in Maarakah, while two people were killed and two others injured in the town of Sel’aa.
The latest escalation comes amid continuing tensions and cross-border hostilities in the region. No immediate statement was issued regarding the strikes.
Lebanese authorities continue to assess the damage and casualty figures as rescue and emergency operations remain ongoing.
