Senior OCHA and UN officials discuss expanded cooperation to strengthen healthcare infrastructure amid mounting medical needs in the strip.

GAZA, July 11, 2026 : The United Arab Emirates field hospital in the Gaza Strip has hosted a high-level delegation from the United Nations to evaluate its ongoing medical and humanitarian operations. The visit focused on reviewing the comprehensive healthcare services provided by the facility and analyzing the UAE’s structural support aimed at alleviating the suffering of injured and ailing residents.

The visiting United Nations delegation comprised top-tier humanitarian leadership active within the region. Key officials included Dr. Ramiz Alakbarov, UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for the Occupied Palestinian Territory; Susanne Tkalec, Deputy Humanitarian Coordinator for the Occupied Palestinian Territory; and Taher Ibrahim, Head of the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in the Gaza Strip. They were accompanied by the Political Affairs Officer and the Director from the Resident Coordinator’s Office.

During the field inspection, representatives from the UAE medical mission and the UN officials held extensive discussions centered on amplifying bilateral cooperation and tactical coordination. The talks aimed to streamline the delivery of emergency medical relief, optimize resource deployment, and scale up the broader humanitarian response to match the rapidly growing medical demands across the Gaza Strip.

UN officials recognized the critical lifeline provided by the UAE field hospital, noting that joint initiatives remain vital to sustaining Gaza’s compromised healthcare framework. Both entities reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining an uninterrupted corridor of healthcare support for local patients.
