Escorted by German Air Force jets into sovereign airspace, the UAE leader begins high-level diplomatic and economic talks backed by a senior ministerial delegation.

BERLIN — UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan arrived in Berlin on Wednesday for a high-profile state visit aimed at strengthening strategic, diplomatic, and trade ties with the Federal Republic of Germany.

German fighter jets intercepted the UAE presidential aircraft upon its entry into German airspace, providing a formal military escort directly to the capital in a traditional gesture of honor. On the tarmac, German officials received Sheikh Mohamed with full military honors, marked by a 21-gun salute and an inspection of the guard of honor.

The visit brings a heavyweight political and economic delegation from Abu Dhabi to Europe’s largest economy. Accompanying Sheikh Mohamed are Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council.

Senior cabinet ministers handling key strategic portfolios also traveled with the president, including Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology; Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade; and Mohamed bin Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Minister of State for Defence Affairs.

Other key officials in the delegation include Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs; Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Advisor to the UAE President; Ali bin Hammad Al Shamsi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for National Security; and Dr. Ahmed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the President’s Office for Strategic Affairs.

Ministers of State Noura bint Mohamed Al Kaabi and Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, along with Faisal Abdulaziz Al Bannai, Advisor to the UAE President for Strategic Research and Advanced Technology Affairs, and Ahmed Al Attar, the UAE Ambassador to Germany, are also participating in the bilateral discussions.

The state visit is expected to center on expanding energy security partnerships, industrial collaboration, advanced technology, and regional security dynamics in the Middle East and Europe.
