New generation silicon brings on-device AI enhancements, Wi-Fi 7, and up to 24-hour battery life to Apple’s updated desktop and laptop lines

DUBAI —Apple has revealed an updated 14-inch MacBook Pro and a refreshed 24-inch iMac powered by its next-generation M6 silicon, setting local entry pricing at Dh8,499 for the laptop and Dh6,499 for the all-in-one desktop across the United Arab Emirates.

The announcement, made on Tuesday, October 27, introduces hardware centered on faster on-device artificial intelligence processing, enhanced graphical throughput, and upgraded wireless standards. Pre-orders open across UAE retail and digital channels on Wednesday, October 28, with general availability and initial deliveries scheduled for Friday, November 6.

While both machines preserve the industrial designs of their direct predecessors, the architectural improvements focus entirely on interior hardware. The 14-inch MacBook Pro features the base M6 chip, which Apple states delivers up to a 30 percent boost in graphics performance over the M5 generation. For professionals upgrading from first-generation Apple Silicon, the company rates the M6 up to 11 times faster in select graphics rendering tests than the original 2020 M1 MacBook Pro.

Apple claims the notebook delivers up to 24 hours of battery run time on a single charge under standard test conditions, though continuous high-load tasks such as multi-stream 8K video editing and 3D rendering will draw down reserves faster. The display remains a 14-inch Liquid Retina XDR panel, paired with a 12-megapixel Center Stage camera that dynamically crops and pans to keep speakers framed during video calls. Wireless connectivity moves to Wi-Fi 7 alongside Bluetooth 6 support, accompanied by upgraded solid-state drive architectures for faster read and write operations. The notebook comes in space black and silver finishes.

The 24-inch iMac incorporates the identical M6 silicon into its slim, integrated chassis. According to internal benchmarks released by Apple, the M6 desktop yields up to double the graphics throughput of the earlier M4 iMac and executes routine productivity workloads—including large-scale data manipulation in Microsoft Excel—up to 2.5 times faster than M1 units.

The desktop retains its 4.5K Retina display, built-in sound system, and peripheral array, adding Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, faster local storage, and support for high-resolution external monitors. The all-in-one continues to sell in seven colors: green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue, and silver.

On-device machine learning serves as a primary marketing pillar for the M6 architecture. Running macOS 27, both computers handle complex AI computations locally rather than offloading tasks to external cloud infrastructure. The unified memory architecture accelerates native Siri operations, including natural-language document queries across local emails and photo libraries, on-screen context comprehension, and automated text drafting.

Apple reports the M6 MacBook Pro completes dedicated AI tasks up to 25 percent faster than its M5 counterpart, while the M6 iMac handles specific on-device neural workloads up to five times faster than the M4 desktop. Apple noted that select advanced Siri capabilities remain in ongoing software preview phases, with functional availability varying across languages and geographic regions.

For consumers, upgrade incentives depend heavily on the age of their existing setups. Users moving from legacy Intel platforms or base M1-generation Macs will notice substantial jumps in thermal efficiency, app responsiveness, and creative workflow speeds. For owners of M4 or M5 hardware primarily engaged in basic productivity, web navigation, and media streaming, daily performance gains will feel incremental.

In the UAE, the baseline 14-inch MacBook Pro carries a starting retail price of Dh8,499, with configurable builds for higher unified memory capacities and SSD storage scaling higher. The 24-inch iMac begins at Dh6,499, while stepped-up configurations with expanded compute and graphics cores start at Dh7,499. Pre-orders are live through official Apple Stores, authorized resellers, and regional e-commerce partners ahead of the November 6 shipping date.
