Ticket prices to major airports in Kerala hit a recent low, offering massive savings for families and expats planning budget travel.
DUBAI: In a major relief for the Indian expatriate community, airfares from the UAE to various destinations in India, particularly Kerala, have recorded a sharp decline. Coming after a prolonged period of skyrocketing ticket prices, this sudden dip in fares allows thousands of non-resident Indians (NRIs) to plan their trips home without burning a hole in their pockets.
Travel industry insiders note that the price drop comes as a welcome surprise during a season that usually witnesses high demand. Tickets to key sectors including Kochi, Kozhikode, Thiruvananthapuram, and Kannur are currently being offered at nearly half the rates observed during the peak summer rush earlier this month. Airlines have adjusted their inventory, leading to highly competitive pricing across both budget carriers and full-service airlines.
According to prominent travel agents in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, one-way tickets to Kerala, which previously hovered well above AED 1,200 to AED 1,500, are now available for as low as AED 350 to AED 500. This downward trend is expected to benefit families who had delayed their annual vacations due to exorbitant travel costs, as well as blue-collar workers looking for a quick visit home.
The UAE-India aviation corridor is one of the busiest in the world, heavily utilized by over 3.5 million Indian expats. Historically, airline prices spike dramatically during school vacations and major festivals, often drawing widespread criticism from expat forums demanding regulated caps on seasonal fares to prevent exploitation.
