Dubai Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum held talks with renowned technology entrepreneur and SpaceX and Tesla founder Elon Musk, focusing on space research, artificial intelligence (AI) and future mobility projects.
The meeting was part of ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration between the UAE and Musk’s companies across advanced technology sectors. Discussions explored opportunities to expand joint initiatives in space exploration, AI-driven innovation and next-generation transport solutions.
Sheikh Hamdan shared images from the meeting on social media, expressing his appreciation for the wide-ranging discussions. In a post following the meeting, he said he was pleased to exchange views with Musk on space, technology and humanity, adding that he looks forward with anticipation to the transformations these fields will bring in the future.
Space cooperation featured prominently in the talks, including efforts to further expand the UAE’s space ambitions in partnership with SpaceX. The recent launch of the PHI-1 satellite was highlighted as an important milestone in this collaboration.
Reports also indicate that discussions covered Dubai’s ambitious Dubai Loop underground transport project, being developed in collaboration with Musk’s The Boring Company, as well as the growing role of artificial intelligence in shaping future cities.
The meeting is widely seen as part of Dubai’s Vision 2040, which aims to position the emirate as one of the world’s most advanced, sustainable and liveable cities through innovation, smart infrastructure and global partnerships.
