DUBAI: In a major push toward sustainable urban living, the Community Development Authority (CDA) in Dubai has joined forces with UAEV (Emarat EV Charging Stations Company) to install electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across prominent community hubs, including neighborhood Majlises and public wedding halls.

This strategic partnership directly supports the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 strategic initiative, integrating green technology seamlessly into the daily lives of residents. As the country’s first fully government-owned EV charging network, UAEV will act as the primary Charge Point Operator (CPO) for this expansion.

Phased Rollout Strategy The green transition is already underway. The initial phase has successfully activated charging points at the Al Rashidiya, Al Barsha, and Nad Al Sheba Majlises.

Throughout the remainder of 2026, the network will expand to include:

  • Al Khawaneej Majlis
  • Al Warqa Majlis
  • Al Barsha Wedding Hall

The second phase, scheduled for completion in 2027, will extend the grid to the Al Twar Wedding Hall, Al Awir Majlis, and the Hatta Majlis.

Driving the Green Economy Commenting on the initiative, Sheikha Al Jarman, CEO of the Social Development Sector at the CDA, emphasized that the project transforms community spaces into platforms for the green economy, making sustainable transport highly accessible to local neighborhoods.

Ali Al Darwish, Acting CEO of UAEV, noted that this collaboration is a vital milestone in geographical expansion. The initiative fits into UAEV’s broader national strategy to deploy more than 1,000 ultra-fast charging points across the Emirates by 2030. Furthermore, a portion of the proceeds from these charging stations will be directed to the Community Development Fund to fuel local social impact projects.
