Dubai has confirmed full operational readiness for New Year’s Eve 2026, with nearly 10,000 police officers and thousands of emergency, transport, and municipal personnel deployed across the emirate to ensure public safety and smooth crowd management during one of the world’s largest year-end celebrations.

The Dubai Event Security Committee (ESC) announced that 48 fireworks displays will be staged at 40 locations, including major landmarks such as Burj Khalifa, Global Village, Atlantis The Royal, Expo City Dubai, Dubai Frame, Al Marmoom Oasis, and Hatta.

The announcement was made during a press conference at Dubai Civil Defence headquarters, where Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Assistant Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police for Operations and Chairman of the ESC, said that 55 government, semi-government, and private entities are working together under a unified security and operations plan.

To ensure seamless coordination, Dubai has been divided into four operational sectors — North, Central, West, and Marine. A total of 37 assistance tents will be set up across key locations, offering police services, first aid, visitor guidance, and support for lost children.

Police, Civil Defence and Medical Preparedness

Dubai Police will deploy 9,884 officers, supported by 1,625 patrol vehicles, 53 marine boats, mounted patrols, and bicycle units. Dubai Civil Defence has mobilised 1,754 firefighters, while more than 300 facilities across the emirate have been inspected to ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Dubai Ambulance Services will operate 236 emergency response points, supported by air ambulance units. Meanwhile, Dubai Health has placed 1,900 medical staff, six hospitals, four clinics, and a fully equipped field hospital near Burj Khalifa on standby.

Traffic, Transport and Public Services

Road closures in Downtown Dubai will begin from 4pm and expand gradually until 11pm, affecting major roads including Sheikh Zayed Road. To manage the expected surge in visitors, public transport capacity has been increased with 14,000 taxis, 18,000 limousines, 1,300 buses, and continuous Metro and Tram services operating for 43 hours.

Dubai Municipality has deployed 2,600 staff to manage sanitation, food safety inspections, parks, and beach safety. Fourteen public parks will remain open until 1am. Fireworks and drone shows will also be staged at Dubai Frame for the first time.

Community Support and Global Coverage

More than 1,800 community volunteers representing over 30 nationalities will support authorities across eight key locations. Dubai Media Inc will broadcast the celebrations globally, highlighting the emirate’s achievements and cultural programming.

Officials reiterated Dubai’s commitment to delivering a safe, well-organised, and memorable New Year’s Eve celebration for residents and visitors alike.
