Dense fog blanketing Dubai and surrounding areas early Saturday morning led to widespread flight delays and diversions at major UAE airports, including Dubai International (DXB), Dubai World Central (DWC), and Sharjah International Airport (SHJ).
According to Dubai Airports, a total of 23 inbound flights were diverted due to poor visibility—21 from DXB and two from DWC. Several airlines reported delays of up to two hours as operations were temporarily disrupted.
Emirates confirmed delays on multiple long-haul and regional routes, while flydubai flights to destinations such as Krabi and Mombasa were also affected. Air Arabia services operating between the UAE and cities like Delhi, Alexandria, Cochin, and Bishkek faced similar disruptions.
Airport authorities assured passengers that teams were actively coordinating with airlines and service partners to minimise inconvenience. Normal operations resumed once weather conditions improved.
Earlier, the National Center of Meteorology issued a fog advisory for Dubai, Sharjah, and nearby emirates, warning of reduced visibility during early morning hours.
