India’s 77th Republic Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour at the Consulate General of India in Dubai on January 26, 2026, as the Indian national flag was hoisted in the presence of a large gathering of community members and officials.
Speaking at the ceremony, Indian Consul General Satish Kumar Sivan said that relations between India and the United Arab Emirates have reached a new level of strategic depth, particularly following the recent visit of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to India.
Sivan highlighted that the visit resulted in several forward-looking agreements, including a landmark 10-year LNG supply deal, enhanced cooperation in defence and space technology, infrastructure investment initiatives, and discussions on digital infrastructure partnerships such as secure data cooperation and digital embassies.
He noted that bilateral trade crossed USD 100 billion in 2025–26, with both nations committing to double the figure to USD 200 billion by 2032, reflecting strong economic confidence and mutual growth.
Emphasising that the relationship goes beyond economic figures, the Consul General praised the Indian community in the UAE, calling it one of the largest and most dynamic diasporas globally. He acknowledged the community’s contributions across sectors including education, healthcare, entrepreneurship, and innovation, stating that Indian expats play a vital role in the UAE’s progress and social fabric.
The Republic Day celebration served as a reminder of India’s constitutional values and the shared vision that continues to strengthen India–UAE ties.
