Reinforcing Dubai’s commitment to health, fitness and sustainability, LuLu Walkathon 2026 witnessed record participation as more than 36,000 residents representing 128 nationalities gathered at Mamzar Park. Organised under the theme “Walk for Green,” the event highlighted the power of community action in shaping a healthier and more sustainable future.

The walkathon, now in its 14th consecutive year, was organised in association with key government partners and powered by Mastercard, continuing its legacy as one of the UAE’s largest community wellness initiatives.

The event was ceremonially flagged off at 9 a.m. by Indian former cricketer and film actor S. Sreesanth, joined by well-known influencers and sports figures. Participants took part in a three-kilometre walk, symbolising their collective commitment to fitness, environmental awareness and social well-being.

Speaking at the event, S. Sreesanth praised the strong public turnout and emphasised the importance of adopting active lifestyles to promote long-term health and wellness.

Salim M.A., Global Operations Director of LuLu, stated that the enthusiastic participation reflects the UAE’s growing focus on healthy living and community engagement, adding that LuLu remains committed to supporting initiatives aligned with the nation’s sustainability goals.

Echoing this sentiment, V. Nandakumar, Director of Marketing and Communications, highlighted how the LuLu Walkathon brings together people from diverse nationalities, fostering unity, fitness and a shared responsibility towards sustainability.

The event also featured a range of engaging activities including aerobics, yoga, Zumba, dance performances and children’s entertainment, ensuring an inclusive and celebratory experience for participants of all ages. Free registration, complimentary T-shirts, hampers, refreshment kiosks and interactive zones further enhanced the day-long festivities.

Prominent attendees included Omoke Adebanjo, Senior Vice President – Retail & Commerce, Mastercard EEMEA; Saifee Rupawala, CEO of LuLu; Salim V.I., Chief Operating and Strategy Officer of LuLu; and Shabu Abdul Majeed, Director of LuLu Global Operations, along with other dignitaries.
