Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched a pilot autonomous Robotaxi service in collaboration with WeRide and Uber, marking a major step towards smart and sustainable mobility. Available from today through the Uber app, the service operates in Umm Suqeim and Jumeirah, allowing users to book WeRide autonomous vehicles by selecting the ‘Autonomous’ option.

The pilot currently runs with a safety driver on board, paving the way for a fully driver less service planned for early 2026. Ahmed Bahrozyan, CEO of RTA’s Public Transport Agency, said the launch supports Dubai’s Self-Driving Transport Strategy, which aims to convert 25% of all journeys to autonomous modes by 2030. The initiative reinforces Dubai’s leadership in future mobility and responds to growing demand for innovative, app-based transport solutions as the city’s population continues to expand.
