US President asserts American military operations have severely degraded Tehran’s defense capabilities while preventing mass executions.
WASHINGTON DC: President Donald Trump has issued a series of bold assertions regarding the current state of Iran, claiming the nation is desperate for a diplomatic breakthrough as its economy faces a total collapse. Speaking at an executive order signing event in the Oval Office, the President described a “military operation” that has significantly dismantled Iran’s military infrastructure without escalating into a formal declaration of war.
Allegations of Mass Killings and Personal Intervention
In a startling claim, President Trump alleged that the Iranian government has killed approximately 42,000 people over the past two months in response to internal protests. He framed the victims as “innocent, non-weapon-carrying people” and suggested that the true death toll could be even higher than reported figures.
The President also highlighted his direct role in humanitarian interventions. “They were getting ready to hang eight women. I got on the phone very quickly and said, ‘Don’t do it. The whole world is watching,'” Trump stated, noting that the executions were halted following his personal appeal. He further condemned the execution of a high-profile wrestler and his associates, labeling it a suppression of political speech.
Military and Economic Degradation
Trump painted a picture of a nation whose military power has been decimated by recent US-led actions. According to the President:
- The Iranian Navy and Air Force are effectively “gone.”
- Drone production facilities have seen an 82% reduction in output.
- Missile manufacturing capacity has plummeted by nearly 90%.
The President credited the “incredible power” of a US-led blockade for strangling Tehran’s revenue streams, particularly oil exports. “Iran is dying to make a deal. Their economy is crashing,” he asserted, expressing hope for a resolution in the near future.
Nuclear Ambitions and Economic Links
Reiterating a cornerstone of his foreign policy, Trump maintained that Iran must never be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon. He also tied the timing of his recent focus on Iran to US domestic economic milestones, citing the Dow hitting 50,000 and the S&P 500 reaching 7,000 as indicators of American strength that necessitated a final resolution to the “Iran problem.”
Tehran’s Defiant Stand
The President’s remarks come as geopolitical tensions in the region reach a fever pitch. Countering the American narrative, Iran’s Parliament Speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, recently stated that Tehran remains committed to securing the Persian Gulf. Ghalibaf warned that Iran would exercise control over the strategic Strait of Hormuz to end what he described as US “presence and interference.”
