Defensive systems activated across the country as defence officials advise residents to monitor official channels and remain calm
ABU DHABI, August 18, 2026:The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Defence announced Tuesday evening that national air defence systems detected an incoming missile threat directed towards the country. Authorities reassured the public that military units are operating at full operational readiness to safeguard state sovereignty and public security.
Air defence units were activated to identify and engage the projectile following detection by early tracking networks. Military officials clarified that loud blasts heard across various regions stemmed directly from the interception process carried out by air defence batteries.
In an official alert issued on Tuesday night, defence authorities advised residents to remain calm and obtain information exclusively through state-sanctioned outlets. An all-clear update was subsequently broadcast through the national early warning network once the threat was neutralized.
“The Ministry of Defence confirms its complete readiness to counter any threats and take all required measures to protect the UAE’s sovereignty, security, and stability,” the ministry said in a statement.
Safety protocols across civil protection agencies remain active to monitor potential falling debris, a routine precaution following high-altitude air defence interceptions. Public security agencies underscored that the national airspace and territory remain secured under multi-layered protection grids.
