Abu Dhabi: UAE authorities have issued a public safety advisory after debris from intercepted missiles and drones fell in several areas of Abu Dhabi amid ongoing regional tensions.
According to the UAE National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority, residents should avoid approaching any falling shrapnel or debris, as fragments may contain explosives or hazardous materials.
Officials said 189 ballistic missiles have been detected since February 28, with 175 successfully intercepted, though some debris has fallen in different locations after interceptions.
Authorities urged residents to immediately move away from the area if debris is spotted and maintain a safe distance to prevent injuries or further risks.
Residents were also advised not to gather at incident sites, as this may obstruct emergency teams from reaching the location quickly. Taking photos or sharing images of debris on social media should also be avoided.
The advisory further asked the public to rely only on official information sources avoid spreading rumours or unverified updates that could cause panic.
People are also encouraged to check on the safety of family members and remain calm during such incidents.
Authorities said any sightings of falling debris or related incidents should be reported immediately by calling the emergency number 999.
