The victory lifts the UAE to six points at the summit of Group B, edging level on points with Qatar but holding top spot courtesy of a superior goal difference. Both regional powerhouses have formally secured qualification for the semi-finals, reducing their upcoming head-to-head clash on Wednesday into a straight battle for group supremacy.
Sunday’s result simultaneously ended Bahrain’s title defence. Back-to-back defeats leave both Bahrain and Yemen without a point in Group B, eliminating both sides from knockout contention before the final round of fixtures.
From the opening whistle, the Whites dictated the rhythm of play in Jeddah, asserting control through sustained possession and sharp transitions. The breakthrough arrived on the half-hour mark when forward Ousmane Camara found space inside the area to beat the Bahraini defence and slot home the opener.
Bahrain mounted sporadic counter-attacks to revive their campaign, but the Emirati backline kept clear chances to a minimum.
The UAE doubled their advantage midway through the second half. Guilherme Bala picked up the ball in the 66th minute and delivered a clinical finish to put the contest firmly out of reach.
Winger Ali Saleh capped off the dominant display two minutes from time, finishing off an Emirati move in the 88th minute to seal an emphatic three-goal victory.
The UAE will meet Qatar on Wednesday at the same venue to determine who advances as Group B winners. The top finisher will face the runner-up from Group A, which features hosts Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Oman, and Kuwait, in the semi-finals on October 3.
