Dubai, March 3, 2026: In a symbolic display of calm and confidence amid escalating regional tensions, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum made a surprise visit to Dubai Mall on Monday.
The visit comes at a time when the region remains on high alert following missile and drone exchanges linked to the ongoing Iran–US–Israel conflict. UAE defence systems have reportedly intercepted multiple incoming threats in recent days.
Leaders Mingle With Public
During the visit, the leaders were seen dining at a restaurant inside the mall and interacting with members of the public. Several residents approached them, shook hands, and exchanged greetings. Senior officials accompanied the leaders during the visit.
Observers described the appearance as a deliberate message of reassurance to residents and expatriates, signaling confidence in the country’s security measures and overall stability despite the regional unrest.
Defence Ministry Statement
The UAE Ministry of Defence earlier confirmed that its air defence systems successfully intercepted numerous ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) launched toward the country. Authorities stated that while interception operations resulted in some minor to moderate material damage in isolated civilian areas, critical infrastructure remains secure.
The ministry clarified that loud sounds heard across parts of the country were due to air defence interceptions and fighter jet operations targeting drones and missiles.
