The nation’s strategic focus on the knowledge economy drives record revenues, attracting over 55,000 creative professionals and global media giants.

DUBAI, July 3, 2026 – The United Arab Emirates has firmly established itself as a leading global destination for the creative and media industries, driven by massive expansions in film production, digital gaming, and traditional publishing. According to recent industry performance metrics, the UAE’s media ecosystem now hosts more than 10,000 media companies and over 55,000 creative professionals, alongside 60% of Fortune 500 media corporations that have established their regional headquarters within the country

The UAE’s strategic push to transform creative concepts into economic value has yielded significant growth across all major entertainment and media verticals. In the film and entertainment sector, the nation has increasingly become a preferred international destination for major cinematic productions, resulting in a national box office revenue of AED 734 million in 2025.

Simultaneously, the digital gaming market has emerged as a high-growth sector, reaching an estimated valuation of AED 2.7 billion. The intellectual and literary landscape also experienced a surge, with the country recording the production of nearly 1.2 million new book and publication titles.

This sustained growth aligns with the UAE government’s broader economic diversification strategy, which prioritizes the media sector as a fundamental pillar of the knowledge economy. By offering a business-friendly environment, advanced digital infrastructure, and targeted investments in creative talent, the nation has effectively leveraged its media ecosystem as a driver of soft power and economic development.

Industry analysts credit this rapid expansion to leadership-led initiatives that accelerate investments in innovation, making the country a central hub for global content creation and regional media operations.
