Abu Dhabi:The rapid expansion of technology, including artificial intelligence (AI), is expected to create significant employment opportunities in the UAE, with demand for nearly 1.03 million workers by 2030, according to a new report.
The technology sector alone, which is projected to grow by 54%, is expected to generate employment for 91,000 professionals. Other major job opportunities are anticipated across various sectors, including 133,000 jobs in manufacturing, 78,000 in education, 60,000 in retail, and 80,000 across finance and healthcare. The findings come from a recent study conducted jointly by enterprise software company ServiceNow and education firm Pearson. The study highlights that AI will not eliminate human jobs; instead, it will make work easier and more efficient. Roles such as system analysts, computer programmers, and search marketing strategists are expected to see particularly strong demand. As AI takes over routine tasks, humans will be able to focus more on creative and strategic responsibilities. The report emphasizes that providing employees with training in AI technologies is essential to fully benefit from emerging job opportunities. This development is seen as a key step toward achieving the UAE National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031, which aims to position the country as one of the world’s leading AI hubs. The UAE’s employment growth rate stands at 12.1%, significantly higher than that of other major economies such as India (10.6%), the UK (2.8%), and the US (2.1%).
As part of efforts to build a strong non-oil economy, the UAE is making major investments in collaboration with global technology leaders including Microsoft, Nvidia, and OpenAI. The construction of large AI data center campuses in Abu Dhabi is also underway as part of this initiative. The report concludes that aligning workforce skills with technological advancements through continuous training will further accelerate the UAE’s economic growth.
