National Centre of Meteorology warns of fluctuating temperatures reaching up to 45°C alongside shifting pressure systems.

DUBAI — The UAE National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has issued a nationwide weather alert warning of blowing dust, strong winds reaching up to 40 km/h, and increasingly rough sea conditions across the region. The adverse weather, accompanied by sharp temperature fluctuations peaking at 45°C, is expected to persist through the weekend.

According to the weather bureau, the current atmospheric conditions are driven by a combination of a weak surface low-pressure system extending from the east and a high-pressure system moving in from the west, further reinforced by an upper-air high-pressure ridge.

Scorching Heat and Blowing Dust

Meteorologists forecast daytime temperatures to hover between 43°C and 45°C across coastal and internal areas of the country. In contrast, the mountainous terrains will offer some respite, with maximum temperatures expected to range between 29°C and 34°C.

Light to moderate south-westerly to north-westerly winds are expected to freshen periodically. These active gusts, clocking speeds between 10 and 25 km/h and peaking at 40 km/h, are likely to stir up dust and sand, significantly reducing horizontal visibility in open areas and highways.

Marine Warning Issued for Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea

Offshore operations and beachgoers are advised to exercise extreme caution as marine conditions deteriorate. The NCM confirmed that the Arabian Gulf will turn rough later today. Similarly, the Oman Sea, which started with slight to moderate waves, is forecast to become rough by this evening.

Fluctuating Weekend Outlook

The NCM indicates that the weather pattern will remain unstable through the weekend. Residents can expect a slight dip in mercury on Thursday, followed by a immediate rebound with rising temperatures on Friday. The general atmospheric condition is projected to remain fair but persistently dusty due to sustained wind activity.
