The National Center of Meteorology issues a three-day weather alert predicting rainfall across several regions from Tuesday to Thursday.
DUBAI: Residents across the United Arab Emirates can look forward to a temporary respite from the scorching summer heat, as weather officials have predicted a high probability of rainfall over the next three days. The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) issued an advisory confirming that precipitation is expected to hit various parts of the country starting Tuesday and lasting until Thursday.
The incoming wet weather system is anticipated to lower ambient temperatures slightly, offering a welcome break from the intense humidity and heatwaves characteristic of the Gulf region at this time of year. Forecasters indicate that convective clouds are likely to form, bringing varying intensities of rain, occasionally accompanied by lightning and thunder, particularly over eastern and southern expanses of the country.
Local municipalities and emergency teams are reportedly monitoring the situation, ensuring that drainage systems are clear to handle potential surface run-off. Residents and motorists are being urged to exercise caution on the roads due to reduced visibility and slippery conditions during the downpours.
Summer rainfall in the UAE, while less frequent than winter showers, is typically driven by the extension of the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) mixed with convective cloud formations over the mountainous terrains. In recent years, the UAE’s advanced cloud-seeding program has also been systematically deployed to maximize precipitation from these passing cloud systems, helping combat arid climates and boost local water reservoirs.
