The UAE is experiencing a period of unsettled winter weather, with strong northwesterly winds, cloudy skies and hazardous sea conditions reported across several regions on Saturday, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).

The weather conditions are being driven by a surface low-pressure system approaching from the east, interacting with a high-pressure system advancing from the west. This interaction is resulting in increased cloud cover and unstable atmospheric conditions.

Low clouds are expected to develop over coastal, northern and eastern areas, while internal regions may witness rising humidity levels later at night and into Sunday morning. Winds are forecast to be moderate to fresh, occasionally becoming strong, particularly over open waters.

Sea conditions remain challenging, with very rough seas in the Arabian Gulf and rough to moderate conditions in the Oman Sea. Authorities have advised caution for marine activities.

Temperatures are expected to stay mild for the winter season, ranging between 20°C and 24°C along coastal areas, rising to 26°C inland. Overnight temperatures may drop significantly in internal regions, reaching as low as 6°C, while mountain areas will see cooler daytime temperatures between 16°C and 20°C.

Looking ahead, weather conditions are expected to remain variable. Sunday will see partly cloudy skies, particularly along coastal and northern areas, with a chance of fog or mist overnight. While winds may ease slightly, sea conditions could remain rough in the morning hours.

By Monday, temperatures are forecast to rise gradually with intermittent cloud cover, calmer seas and continued nighttime humidity. However, by Tuesday and Wednesday, stronger winds are expected to return, accompanied by increasing cloud cover and the possibility of light rainfall over coastal areas and islands. Sea conditions are likely to deteriorate again, becoming rough to very rough by midweek.
