ABU DHABI : The United Arab Emirates has expressed its full solidarity with France as emergency services battle severe wildfires across the southwestern region of the European nation, forcing the evacuation of local residents and holidaymakers.
In an official statement released on Sunday, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) conveyed its support to the government and people of France in confronting the environmental crisis, extending wishes for the safety of all affected communities.
The diplomatic response follows intense firefighting operations centered near Marcheprime, located approximately 30 kilometers southwest of Bordeaux. High temperatures, dry conditions, and changing wind direction have accelerated the spread of fires across pine forests in the Gironde department, prompting local authorities to order precautionary evacuations to protect lives.
French emergency personnel, supported by specialized water-dropping aircraft and regional fire brigades, continue working around the clock to contain active fronts and secure perimeter lines.
