Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said that he carries no bitterness toward those who oppose him and remains unconvinced that he has committed any wrongdoing in his life. In an introspective interview, he stated that the only fear he acknowledges is that of his party’s discipline and principles.
The hour-long conversation, hosted by actor Mohanlal, was designed as a personal dialogue rather than a political discussion. Titled Kandu Mundi Iruvar, the interview explored Vijayan’s inner world—his beliefs, past struggles, likes, dislikes, and life lessons—offering audiences a rare departure from his usual public image.
Reflecting on allegations and criticism, Vijayan said they never disturbed him emotionally. He revisited memories from the Emergency period, recalling the mental and physical pressure of imprisonment and emphasizing how those experiences shaped his resilience and outlook on leadership.
The Chief Minister also spoke warmly about his fondness for cinema, home-cooked food, and travel, naming Singapore as a favourite destination. He described cinema as a powerful medium of expression and acknowledged the lasting impact of films he admired.
The programme opened with a song associated with Mohanlal and concluded with Vijayan reciting an Upanishadic verse, underlining the philosophical tone of the exchange. While opposition leaders dismissed the interview as a carefully curated image-building exercise, supporters saw it as a humanising portrait of a leader known for his uncompromising public persona.
