Good news for UAE residents — your Eid Al Fitr 2026 holiday is secure, and the moon sighting won’t affect the length of your break.
Authorities have confirmed that private sector employees will receive official holidays from Thursday, March 19, to Saturday, March 21, 2026. If Ramadan extends to 30 days, Sunday, March 22 will be added — ensuring a four-day weekend regardless of lunar confirmation.
Federal government employees will observe the holiday from March 19 to March 22, with official working hours resuming on Monday, March 23.
The UAE Moon-Sighting Committee will meet on March 18, 2026, to determine whether Ramadan concludes at 29 days or completes 30. If the crescent is sighted, Eid will begin on March 19. If not, Ramadan day 30 (March 19) becomes an official holiday, and Eid will begin on March 20. In both cases, residents enjoy four consecutive days off.
Under UAE Cabinet rules, most public holidays can be shifted to create long weekends — but Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha are exceptions and cannot be moved.
Those looking to maximise their time off can strategically apply for annual leave from March 16 to March 19. By combining this with the preceding weekend, residents could enjoy a nine-day holiday from March 14 to March 22 while using only a few leave days.
Whether you’re planning a staycation or an international trip, your four-day Eid break in 2026 is officially guaranteed.
