Dubai: The UAE and Saudi Arabia have launched a strategic trade corridor linking Sharjah to Dammam, combining sea transport via Khorfakkan Port with overland road logistics.
The new route is designed to bypass potential disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, ensuring faster, more reliable movement of goods between the two countries.
Officials say the initiative marks a significant step toward strengthening supply chain resilience and reducing dependence on traditional maritime routes. By integrating sea and road transport, the corridor enhances efficiency and flexibility in regional logistics.
The move is also expected to boost bilateral trade flows between the UAE and Saudi Arabia, while improving the overall stability of cargo operations amid evolving geopolitical challenges in the region.
Industry experts view the corridor as a major shift toward more secure and adaptive logistics infrastructure in the Gulf, supporting long-term economic growth and trade sustainability.
